Our Building Information Modeling (BIM) system creates virtual models of our projects that allow us to experience moving through the space we’re designing even before construction begins. But Autodesk Revit (3D), the BIM system we use, allows so much more.
From the start of a project, the program allows our dedicated team to document existing conditions efficiently to offer better design insight. The program unites and coordinates all elements of a project – everything from conceptual design studies to detailed construction drawings and schedules – into a single model, accessible to the team of designers, engineers, builders and owners.
This enhances collaboration and transparency and streamlines the design and management process. Changes can be made instantly and will be seen by all team members, wherever they are. What’s more, every team member can see how changes will impact the appearance of the envisioned building and the experience of moving through it.
The ability to clearly visualize a project and its many facets also helps identify and avoid design issues that could later pose problems. Designers have options to create walkthrough/flyover animations, adjust the location or time of day, and even change the background or seasons. This ability therefore saves time, increases efficiency and safety, averts the need for live change orders and ultimately delivers a more cost-effective project to the owner.
The design program has allowed Tinkelman Architecture to transform the way we create, amend, and deliver designs. This intuitive approach, ease of use and transparency among all team members allows for faster, more precise and more clearly communicated decisions. The result is improved overall quality of a project.
